1) PROJECT ASSISTANT: Three posts [2 – Unreserved, 1 – Scheduled Caste] (temporary for a period of 1 year, extendable till the end of the project). Monthly honorarium: Rs.15,000/- for the first year and Rs.17,000/- for second year onwards.


Qualification: B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech. in Electronics/Telecommunications/Computer Science/Information Technology with 60% marks in aggregate. Candidates who have appeared for the final examinations can also apply.


Desirable Qualifications: (a) Work experience in digital signal processing or pattern recognition; (b) Hands on experience in Linux. Candidates with less than 60% marks and having 1 to 2 years experience in digital signal processing or pattern recognition may be considered, if suitable candidate is not found.


Nature of work : To work on a speech recognition project that implements a voice interface for information retrieval using advanced speech recognition technologies. Candidates will have to do application-specific research and development work that includes understanding research papers, implementing algorithms in C, modify existing C/C++ code and writing shell/perl/php scripts in linux environment.


Age : Below 28 years for unreserved candidates and below 33 years for scheduled caste candidates as on July 1, 2010.




2) JUNIOR PROJECT ASSISTANT: One post [Reserved for Other Backward Class] (temporary for a period of 1 year, extendable till the end of the project); Monthly honorarium: Rs.8,000/- p.m. for the first year and Rs.9,000/- for second year onwards.


Qualification : B.Sc. with 60% marks OR H.S.C. and Diploma in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Science or equivalent qualification with 60% marks. Candidates who have appeared for the final examinations can also apply. The candidates should have taken Marathi language at S.S.C. Level and have good command over spoken Marathi. The candidates should have knowledge of computer operation.


Nature of work: To transcribe Marathi speech recordings of various dialects, and validate such transcriptions. Candidates may have to conduct field trips to record Marathi conversations.


Age : Below 31 years as on July 1, 2010.


The short listed candidates for post no. 2 will be tested for their ability to understand spoken Marathi and to type-in transcription (sequence of words) in Roman script.
